I have just read the book, "The trouble with Islam..A Muslims call for reform in Her Faith". The book is written by a muslim woman, Irshad Manji. This is an eye opener to the teachings of Islam.

This is a must read for anybody wanting to know how Islam is affecting our every day lives.

Gryph, many people say Islam has been hijacked by extremists, evidently this is not the case. She tells of her experiences from being a young girl in a Madrassa in Richmond and trying to get questions answered about her faith. She asked pointed questions. Always getting the same answer, read the Koran. This book gives a good history of Islam and it's teachings from way back to the present day.

Our library didnt have it but got it on loan from Parkersburg.

Ask yourself if Islam is tolerant of other religions, and then read the book.

I imagine a lesbian muslim would not have a very rosy view of Islam anymore than a lesbian Pentecostal would hold that religion in much regard...
but, it does sound like an interesting read. Ill look for it the next time Im at the library.
