On one side you have Al Gore, prophesying the calamities to come if immediate and drastic action is not taken.

On the other side you have the "ditto-heads,"  ........  pooh-poohing anything to do with climate change.

In between, you have the vast majority........knowing something needs to be done, and debating exactly what that should be.

Arnold Schwarzenegger knows one need not be an idiot to be a conservative, and has started work in his state to lower carbon dioxide emissions. 

That Governor not "conservative" enough for you?  How about South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford ?  He also thinks you need not be an idiot to be a conservative.  He has backed existing hydrogen and fuel cell research efforts through his annual budget.


I know it would take a little "heavy reading," but, some might want to check out the latest issue of "Fortune Magazine."   They have an article called "Green is Good."  ("http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/04/02/8403418/index.htm?postversion=2007032214)  In it they point out the biggest companies in the country..........GE, Wal-Mart, Dupont..........have decided you need not be an idiot to be a conservative. 

They aren't changing how they do business out of the goodness of their hearts; they're doing it because its good business. 

"The opportunity to provide environmental solutions is going to be one of the big four or five themes of our generation of business leadership," Jeffrey Immelt, the chief executive of GE, told the 25th anniversary dinner of the World Resources Institute. "

The debate is over as to whether or not there is a need for change in the environmental way we produce goods, and consume goods.  The debate is no longer "if" we change........the debate is now on how we change.

Neither Al Gore, nor Rush Limbaugh has the answer...........as is the case on almost everything, the answer lies somewhere in the middle of those two points of view.

I would never expect any ditto-head on this forum to listen to me.  You would be stupid to take advice from faceless person on a political forum.  But, you might consider people like Governors Schwarzenegger and Sanford.   You might look at what the the leading businesses in the nation are doing .

I submit Limbaugh is as foolish on this issue as is Gore.  But, You Don't Have To Be An Idiot To Be A Conservative !............do some serious research yourself, and stop taking scientific advice from a comedian!

I'm kinda worried about all the cancer referrals for advanced cancers in people my age and younger....I don't think that's due to "natural" climate changes....

As much as you might enjoy writing it, and as much it might relieve your mind to  pretend otherwise, "the impact of that on the environment is most certainly settled."  What is not at all settled is how we address it.

You can continue your Limbaugh imitation of lampooning Gore all you like.  I concede Gore's version is a "worse case scenerio."

Even you, though, should be able to read the writing on the wall.  You can see where state governments, even conservative state governments are heading.  You can see where highly profitable and very conservative businesses are heading. 

You can see that Gore is far closer to the truth than is Rush.  You Don't Have To Be An Idiot To Be A Conservative !
