Photo printer.
« on: February 18, 2010, 06:04:20 PM »
I am looking for a medium priced photo printer. Any suggestions? I have ran the internet ragged today looking at printers and reviews. Mindboggling.

Heck just go to Wally World and buy one made in China. You should be OK.

It is mind boggling!

Do need multifunction or will it be a dedicated photo printer?

Do you want to be able to print 8x10 or larger?

I'm a big fan of HP printers. I think you should start at their website.

When it comes to Printers...HP rules the market.

My old printer was a HP Photosmart. It wore out. I just purchased a HP B209a Photosmart Plus. I have printed off some photos and I am really happy. It is a multi function. Bo, 5x7 is as large as I have gone.

Good choice!

Although as a personal preference, I tend to shy away from multifunction units, the B209a got excellent reviews.

One more question, does my printer need to be in the startup menu? Are there any benefits to it being there?

Do you mean the task bar? At the bottom of the screen?

The printer has a slot for memory cards and that is one reason it may appear on the task bar. One-click access.

No. When you go to "misconfig" it is listed there in the startup menu. It's like my Kodak easyshare, it's not in startup but I have to open it through a icon.

Leave it. It does no harm.

I guess I understand your curiosity, but man, what are you doing in msconfig anyway? You could do irreparable harm there, Dude. And whatever you do, stay out of regedit unless you REALLY know what you are doing.

I remember when my Dad, God rest his soul, got his first Windows computer. He was the kind who like to go 'under the hood' of things.

He somehow got the idea that he needed to clean out his hard drive (without asking anyone how) and opened up the c drive and starting deleting files he didn't recognize. When I asked him why, he said "I don't remember putting them there and I didn't need them for anything."

It took me a while to get that computer working again.
