I have it installed on some test beds here at work. It's different and takes some getting used to. But I like it a lot. It runs very well on older machines that we wouldn't have even thought of putting Vista on.

And no more compatibility excuses. It comes with a license for XP that you can install in a virtual machine for running almost any legacy app.

Does it have the cmatibility mode?  I am getting ready to install on one here.  Everyone is asking if this and that works on it, so I have to be able to test.  I was just wondering if I was in for nightmares. :faint:

Not. It does not have a compatibility mode in the usual sense. But You can set up a VM and run XP on the VM when you find an old app won't run under Win7.

Before you install Win 7, download the Window 7 Upgrade Advisor. I've tried it and it really works!

Pay particular attention to your video and audio device drivers. If yours are really old, you may need a new video and/or audio card.

Try this ....

One more thing ....

Upgrades can be very tricky and may take a while. It's much better to back up ALL your data and do a clean install.

Of course then you will also have to reinstall any apps you use.

Thanks BoD.  I will do that.  i like to be prepared for all the questions that come when there is a new os out.  I was really dreading it.  You have made me feel better.  I have a system I use for just testing  so there really is nothing to lose.  It is just a nightmare when you sell software and everyone wants an old game to work on a new OS. :bang:

Tell me about it!!!!!

I myself was devastated when I found out my (very) old flight simulator software wouldn't work with XP.
