Would you consider your experience with message boards positive or negative?   Have you learned anything about people in general or about yourself?  What other types of knowledge have  you gained?  How does it effect you to see members fighting on line,  do you secretly like to watch and not get involved or does it disgust you to the point you would rather avoid places that do that?

As I've said before, the old BDT posting board was my first experience with on-line chat rooms, and when it morphed into Hey Martha it was a fascinating and mostly positive learning experience for me. I learned more about people in general but probably more about myself. It took me a while to figure out that many people stretch the truth a little more when using an assumed name, and some play mind games, but I think most people just want to relax have a little fun.

As for the fights, they do draw the crowds, and since some of the more contentious (and often very interesting) people left or were banned, it has been quieter here (except for the politics section).

The only things that upset and disgust me are meanness and bullying.
