LIFE’S GREATEST TRAGEDY
« on: July 09, 2008, 12:49:51 AM »
Normally when you think of a tragedy, you think about some great disaster, like an earthquake or flood, that takes thousands of lives.  Well there is an even greater disaster than this, that is effecting Billions of people.  This disaster isn’t greater, because it hurts more people, but because of the duration, in which these people will be hurt.

The tragedy, that I am referring to, is a Spiritual tragedy.  And we can read about it in Matthew chapter 7.

      Matthew 7:21-23
V.21 ¶  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
V.22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
V.23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The tragedy talked about in this passage, is the tragedy of a religious person, thinking that they are saved, and on their way to heaven; Only to find out too late, that they weren’t really saved, at all.  The Bible tells us here and many other places, that Billions of people, are going to be deceived in this way, and will have to spend an eternity in Hell, because of it.

The most important thing in the world, for us to do, is to make 1000% sure, that we are truly born again, and not just religious (See  2 Corinthians 13:5).  Faith in Jesus Christ alone, is the only way of true forgiveness and salvation.  Making sure that we are doing things, “according to the Bible”, and not “according to man’s opinion”, is another good way, to make sure, that you are really saved.

One of the best ways, to know if you are really saved, is by how you react to the Gospel, when it is preached.  If that message, causes you to have any doubts about your relationship with God, this is a good sign, that you need to do some soul searching.

Ape:

Moon is indeed a godless liberal atheist.  If you wish to bring her out just post anything having to do with religion, morals, values  . These topics drive her into  a frothing rage.  Be carefull on the abortion topic  it is near and dear to her.

The other moral relativists will chime in here shortly and display their usually post style.

Welcome, bigape!

Great post! Thanks!

I see you have met the two extremes here!  I guess where you have a right wingnut you have to have a left wingnut!

:lmao:

Don't worry! I think you'll find most of us a friendly bunch. And though some of us may lean a little bit left or right, most of us are within reach of the middle. But beware of one certain poster who claims to be "middle of the road"

and Ape, now you've met RC...
who is a bit "special".
He seems unable to grasp the simplest ideas...
tell him that most everyone has a different idea of right and wrong, and you may as well try to explain quantum physics to him.
The simplest concepts allude him. He can't see what is racist about institutional policies forbidding interracial dating. He sees nothing wrong with exclusion, unless its a group near and dear to him that is being excluded.
He claims Christianity, but doesn't seem to espouse any Christian ideals whatsoever.
He is easily led by his right wing puppetmasters, is a wasteful, selfish, and thick headed person who speaks in soundbites and threw logic out the window a long time ago.

Yes, beware the middle of the roader.
We aren't sure what road he is on exactly...but he's always going 40 with his blinker on.

I knew I could count on you Gry, this is the post I was talking about. According to you, I am right and can not be wrong because we have different ideas of right and wrong.  You need to apologize to me and follow your own warped logic. You need to be true to your own amoral belief.

bless your dumb heart.
Theres nothing amoral about recognizing that all cultures have different values and beliefs. To not recognize it is lunacy---but we've come to expect nothing less from you.

then explain, won't you, how slavery was commonplace 200 years ago, and is abhorant now.

Explain, in your infinite wisdom, why people of other races were once treated like animals, which we now think is wrong?

Explain, oh wise one, how its ok in some cultures to serve dog for dinner--a practice that we would find disgusting?

Slavery was abhorant to many even 200 years ago.  I think it is unlikely that anyone thought it was right to keep another human in chains.  Out of greed and need for cheap labor many engaged in the practice.  I know you are from the public school, but we fought a war over this and put a stop to it.

There is nothing morally wrong about serving dog for dinner.  They are a animals that many like to eat.  In America we look on certain animals as a non food source.  American do not eat horses either.  In the future this all may change. Today I still have plenty of beef, pork, chicken and will refrain from eating Fido.  But there is nothing wrong with it if you wish to have a real "hotdog".

first of all, to suggest that the Civil war was fought over slavery is simplistic at best. But, given your educational background, simplistic is all I hope for from you.

Secondly, not only did many people think slavery was just fine, they defended it with their Bibles, their "morals" and their ideas of "right and wrong".

Care to take a stab at my second question? If right and wrong NEVER change, how is it that we had separate water fountains, pools, entrances for Blacks just a few generations ago?
