My reading habits are always changing. Sometimes I'll read a book or two a month, mostly this time of year. I had my final for the class I took this semester Thursday, so maybe I'll read a little more now that it's over with. I picked up a new Stephen King the other day, but haven't started it. I try and read a couple chapters a day in my Bible, but sometimes I slip with that also.

I average about one book a month. I read for my own entertainment
and to learn a little bit about the subject matter.
At one time I only read nonfiction. Someone told me that I should
be reading Stephen King. When I asked her to loan me her best King
novel, she gave me a copy of "Pet Sematary". The book set on my
end-table for two weeks before I picked it up. It took another two
weeks to get through the first five chapters. I just wasn't interested.
One night I couldn't sleep, so I got out of bed and  started reading
the book. I read just about all night long, and only put it down because
I didn't want it to end. This is not a book to read in the middle of the
night and it won't help you get to sleep either.
I now have a decent collection of Stephen King novels.

I don't read as much now as I used to, and my interests keep changing. The last fiction author I got hooked on was Raymond Chandler - his Spenser mysteries. Chandler was definitely an acquired taste, and I haven't read any of his other books, but Spenser and Hawk and Susan helped keep me awake through many bus-subway rides to and from work.

I would have to say my average is about one a week. In the summertime, at the beach I take 10 hardbacks and will read at least 4. Good times....

I usually read two or three books a month. I guess i read because the words are there. I also read cereal boxes, signs, mostly anything that comes into my line of vision. I even read instructions!

I'm getting into audio books as are many friends.  I love audio books when driving, walking, doing chores, etc.

Gray, you can find them in most bookstores.
Also, county libraries here (Northern VA) have sections with audio books and music which you can sign out just like books - no charge!

The Stand, unabridged version is his best novel.

I don't read nearly as much as I would like too, when you have a 3 1/2 year old running around it makes it difficult.  Most of my reading is done while he is asleep and I'm soaking in the tub.  Otherwise there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day available anymore.  WHen I'm on a roll I can read 3 or 4 a week.  depends on the material, etc.  I usually have more than one going at a time.

Thank you for your recommendation. This book might get my reading back on track. My reading habit has been disrupted by an attempt to quit smoking. I always read for about 20 minutes before bed time and smoke the last 2 cigarettes of the day. This reading time triggers the strongest cravings, so I have to skip it for now.
I decided to quit for my son.My own dad died in the coal mines when I was 10. I'd like to be around as long as possible for him. He turns 25 on his next birthday, and if thats not enough, he and his wife gave me a very beautiful grandson less than 2 months ago.
My last cigarette was Nov.17.  ( just before bed of course) :096:

i have been an avid reader since third grade. I read between 3 to 5 books a month....sometimes more...sometimes less. I love all kinds ...fiction, non fiction, biography's, documentaries....you name it. I love Stephen king, deen koontz. elizabeth berg, ann rule just about anything on ophrahs list. I also love political books....conservative. and books on religion. My favorite place to be is in a library on a rainy day.  I love the smell of books.when i get a new book i read the cover, back and front...look at the pictures if there are any  and then i will start from the first page.....even the acknowledgments. books have always been my friends. when i was a kid i was very shy so i would find me a little nook or corner and get lost in nancy drew or grace Livingston hill, Victoria Holt or tom sawyer.  I was never lonely as long as i had a book.   :)
